About the artist

„I want to make the universe stop for a moment in its absolute harmony, and share it with others.“

Aušra Kojelavičiūtė, a Lithuanian artist, is known for her oil paintings that feature a vibrant interplay of reflected light and delicate shifts in color. Her art employs a realistic style, emphasizing the warmth and depth often found in academic drawing. Through this method, she draws attention to both the authenticity of her subjects and the intrinsic beauty of the natural world, creating scenes that invite the viewer into an atmosphere of sincerity and calm.

To Kojelavičiūtė, painting serves as a deeply spiritual and inward-looking experience. She likens the act of brushwork to a divine encounter, striving to uncover the silent, unseen marvels that the soul communicates. Whether portraying sunlight glistening on water, the powerful force of the sea, or the graceful contours of the human body, her intention is to convey fleeting instances of pure harmony and unfiltered emotion—a pause within the ceaseless movement of the universe.

Drawing inspiration from meditation, Kojelavičiūtė is influenced by her ability to sense colors and energies that go beyond the boundaries of a traditional artist’s palette. In this meditative state, she perceives reality at an almost microscopic level, which deepens her appreciation for the interconnectedness and intricacy of existence. Through her creative process, her paintings serve as a conduit between the physical world and the transcendent, encouraging viewers to experience unity with their surroundings.

Kojelavičiūtė’s path as an artist began under the mentorship of Henrika Savičianskaitė, an art critic and painter, who inspired her to pursue painting. She refined her talents at the Antanas Martinaitis Art School, learning from esteemed educators including Andrius Valius, Antanas Obcarskas, and Gražinas Kuprevičienė. Her academic training was further enriched by professors such as Pranas Griušis, Gintaras Zubris, and Antanas Obcarskas. Since 2012, she has belonged to the Lithuanian Folk Artists’ Union, where she has actively organized solo exhibitions and taken part in group shows and competitions.
