Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting is a vibrant night scene, filled with an array of stars that vary in size, shape, and color, scattered across a dark blue sky. Prominent among these are larger, textured stars painted in shades of white, blue, and hints of pink, giving them a luminescent quality. Smaller stars and dots of white light punctuate the background, suggesting a busy, star-filled sky. Some stars are drawn with sharp, clear edges, while others appear more diffused, creating a dynamic contrast between sharpness and softness in the depiction of this starry night. The brushwork is energetic, with visible strokes and splatters, adding to the painting's lively and whimsical atmosphere.
