"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting features a vibrant cluster of elongated, leaf-like forms that radiate outward in a dynamic, organic burst. The colors are subtle yet expressive, primarily in shades of teal, pink, and white, against a moody background of dark blues and purples. The texture is thick and palpable, suggesting a heavy application of paint that adds a tactile dimension to the visual experience. The background and foreground blend seamlessly, creating a sense of depth and movement, as if the forms are gently swaying under water or in a gentle breeze. The overall effect is one of natural energy and ethereal beauty, with the light-colored strokes catching the eye like flashes of light through a dense, colorful thicket.
