"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting by Kristina Česonytė is vibrant and intriguing. It features a bright pink background. On it, various abstract forms and figures are drawn in a simple sketchy style. These shapes are outlined in a darker tone, possibly black. The figures appear interconnected, almost floating or layered over each other. There's a playful quality to the doodle-like drawings. Each figure carries unique details like dots and lines, some resembling decorative elements or facial features. The artwork feels alive and dynamic. Kristina Česonytė uses a minimalistic approach that combines the simplicity of line drawings with expressive use of color. This creates a striking, modern aesthetic. It’s clear she enjoys exploring form and the interaction of shapes. This piece is both whimsical and thought-provoking.
