Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting is vibrant and full of life. It shows two figures, drawn in a simple and abstract style. The background is a rich lime green, and the figures are outlined in bold black. They seem to float or dance on the canvas. The style is very expressive, not realistic. Kristina Česonytė uses broad strokes and minimal detail to focus on emotion and movement. It feels playful and free. Česonytė's work often explores themes of identity and transformation, and this painting seems to capture a moment of joy or creation. It’s a striking and energetic piece.
